Never A Dull Moment At JDT

Ah, Johor Darul Takzim. The Malaysian club flush with royal riches are not finding football success that easy to come by.

Just recently, Bojan Hodak was bought in to replace Cesaer Jiminez as first team coach...the reason? Jiminez's English was not that good! I guess the initial job interview was carried out in Spanish? Anyway, he has been placed in charge of the JDT U21 and JDT II where, I imagine, the players understand Espanol better than the first team!

Expensive Argentine import Pablo Aimar, who was runoured to have been unhappy at the club anyway, has been dropped. The crown prince of the state, who is also the president of the football club said JDT were not 'able to maximise our investment'.

And then there is the decision to drop Singapore international defender Baihakki Khaizan, a 'phenomenal defender' says the prince, but Jiminez said the team needed someone with 'greater physical ability.' So they drop the player voted the best defender in the league last season.

Bai remains under contract apparently and has been told he can train with the first team but will only play for JDTII!

With JDT fans talking about boycotting games in anger at recent developments at the club, the prince had taken to the clubs Facebook page to explain the recent decisions but he began his statement by saying 'I would like to take this opportunity to express my disappointment due to a majority of you out there jumping to conclusions and speculating without actual facts and truth.'

He went on to say 'We must be an example as a professional club football association in the country' and goes on to talk about the club's fighting spirit. The same fighting spirit, perhaps, that saw players from an opposing team allegedly assaulted in the tunnel at half time.

On the field Johor Darul Takzim have been enjoying some good form recently, winning four and drawing three of their last seven games, a run that has seen them climb to third in the Super League, three points behind leaders Pahang.

Appointing big names in whatever capacity guarantees nothing but headlines just like pots of money guarantees nothing but less cash in the bank.
