Tampines slip up again

Tampines Rovers lost the Eastern derby last night 1-0 at Jalan Besar in front of the biggest SLeague crowd of the season and without sounding all Alan Hansen like you gotta wonder whether their chances of winning the title this year are gone for good.

Brazilian Junior scored the only goal for Geylang after 35 minutes to settle the match and leave Tampines wondering what they have left to play for. This defeat, their third in nine games leaves them 10 points behind leaders SAF who have played a game less and have yet to drop a point this campaign.

Geylang's victory takes them up to 6th spot. The two sides from the east of the island are the only clubs outside of SAF and Home United, also known as the uniform clubs because of their background, to have won the SLeague.

* Home are the team of the police and other civil defence units while SAF are the armed forces club.
