Persija reaction

With Persija falling at the Liga Semi Final stage for the second consecutive season coach Isman Jasulmei was obviously down heartened.

I spoke with him this morning and never once asked him how he felt after going out of both the Liga and Copa 2007 at this late stage. I didn't need to, his tone was enough.

'Sriwijaya were very discplined' he commented.

I asked him whether he felt Keith Kayambe, the Sriwijaya goalscorer, should have received a straight red for his deliberate hand ball that led to the Persija penalty but he went all Wengeresque on me. 'I don't know' was his diplomatic reply.

'Maybe this year was not meant to be our year,' he said now getting philisophical. He returned to discipline. 'Sometimes my players were too emotional,' perhaps referring to defender Hamkah Hamza who was involved in a spat with a Sriwijaya player that saw him recieve a yellow card and substituted.

Movie maker and Persija fan Andibachtiar Yusuf was more succinct. 'Shite' was his unabridged comment.

Following on from Persipura's defeat in the first semi final to PSMS there were some incidents outside the stadium including one where a young Persija fan died after being struck on the back of the head. Cars belonging to a couple of TV stations were also destroyed.
